Welcome to Bluegrass Bend! My name is Kristy Rummage, and I am the breeder of quality English Springer Spaniels nestled right in the heart of Kentucky. We own roughly 5 acres that our pets have full access to run, play, and be wild on. We have a climate controlled building for our dogs while we are away from the house at work- to ensure they are always safe and have everything they need, including automatic waterers and food bin.
Growing up, I always was drawn to animals of every shape and size. My parents owned a 150 acre beef cattle farm, and we always were coming across critters- from a sick goose, indigo bunting bird, kittens, bottle calves, dogs, hogs, chickens, and a litter of baby rabbits. My love for animals has always been deeply rooted. Things never changed and as I got older I went to work in human medicine, then eventually came back to animals. I am now a Veterinary Technician for an amazing animal hospital and am lucky enough to continue my passion while providing quality pets to amazing families.
Established in 2016, we produce show quality Springers, with a focus on temperament, conformation, and structural soundness. All of our dogs are health tested, as well as genetically tested for inherited diseases. We have all breeding dogs hips and elbows checked as well in order to prevent any orthopedic problems for future owners. Our goal is always to set the puppy/dog up for a long successful life! How it all began
I"ll give a little back story to how we became Bluegrass Bend! In 2016 we were stationed in North Carolina. My husband was in the Marine Corps and he was travelling very often, around 9 months a year. We had been trying for our 1st child for a while, we were having no luck, and I was very stressed and lonely. I had lost my Australian Shepherd and was really feeling the void of not having a pet. I started online looking for a breed that would be a good family dog, one that would be good with children. I literally googled "good family dogs", Springers were one on top of the list. So I go on "pet find" and find a breeder in South Carolina and purchased my girl, Piper; the rest is History. I cannot speak enough about how amazing this breed is. Springers are so affectionate, loyal to their people, intelligent, and beautiful too boot! Once you have one, you will quickly come to realize that you may never own another breed that could compare! After we had the realization that we were a Springer family, we were overwhelmed with the feelIng that other families should be able to experience the same bond and love that this amazing breed has to offer.
